Directions How to Answer

Aptitude Test Topic: Quantitative Comparison

Questions of this type ask you to compare two quantities — Quantity A and Quantity B — and then determine which of the quantity is greater.

Directions

Each question has two quantities to be compared: one in a box in the left hand column and one in a box in the right hand column. Compare the quantities taking into consideration any other information given and choose:

  1. if the quantity on the left is greater
  2. if the quantity on the Right is greater
  3. if both are equal
  4. if the relationship cannot be determined without further information.

To give the answer click/tap the option alphabet for your answer choice. for correct answer green check and for wrong answer a red cross will appear along with a button to show explanation with or without video of the question answer.

In the diagram, AC = 6. CE = 12, DF = 4, and AB is parallel to DE.
The area of the triangle ABC12

Quantity A is greater.
Quantity B is greater.
The Two quantities are equal.
The relationship cannot be determined from the information given.

Explanation:

Correct Answer: B

The triangles CBA and CDE are similar, so all corresponding lengths are proportional. Each length in CBA is 1/2 as big as the corresponding length in CDE. Think about DF, the altitude in CDE, and the length to which it would correspond in CBA: an altitude from vertex B to the base AC.

Call that h. Since DF = 4, h = 2.

Now, for CBA, we have an altitude h = 2 and a base AC = 6.
