“If I would be a young man again and had to decide how to make my living, I would not try to become a scientist or scholar or teacher. 1 would rather choose to be a plumber or a peddler in the hope to find that modest degree of independence ‘till available under present circumstances.” Albert Einstein

What is a Profession?

Profession is a type of job that needs special training or skill, especially one that needs a high level of education. Likes and dislikes differ from person to person. Choosing a profession is not as simple a thing as it looks like. Different factors attract to diverse directions.

Common Trend in the Country

It is a common trend in our society that most people want to become doctors, engineers, civil servants, or military officers. In fact, these are lucrative jobs. Finances and personal liking are two main decisive factors in this regard. The socially financial aspect is overwhelmingly dominant because the sound financial condition is considered the key to happiness.

Money does not bring Satisfaction

Anyhow, there are some forgotten facts in this connection. One thing is that money on disposal does not necessarily bring satisfaction. There are some other things conducive to happiness. The profession of choice may give inner satisfaction. On the contrary, a person may feel strain if he does not like his profession.

If we see the global parameters of a healthy life, we come to know that working time is the most important thing that the modem world considers inevitable for a happy life. In most third-world countries, there is no concept of enjoying life. There the people remain busy the whole day in doing jobs. They do not have the leisure to enjoy life. In “Conquest of Happiness” Bertrand Russell emphasized to indulge in the work in which you take great interest.

No work is worthless

In fact all types of workers are needed to make the world go. So no work is less important. The only advisable thing is that one should choose the job according to one’s taste and aptitude. It is possible only then that one will serve others wholeheartedly. Another important factor is that the hours of work should allow a man to lead a comfortable and relaxed life. He should not be burdened with overwork.

Over Work

“Robert Frost sarcastically said, By working faithfully eight hours a day, you may eventually get to be a boss and work twelve hours a day.”

Unfortunately, most of the population in our country is afflicted with overwork. Workers in the private sector are singularly badly hit. We should prefer those jobs which may provide us with basic needs of life and allow us maximum leisure to enjoy life.
