When eating in response to emotions, or soothed by the food as it changes the chemical balance in the brain, it produces a feeling of fullness that is more comfortable than an empty stomach and improves mood through positive association with happier times. Many of person with depression lose both energy and interest. Some are facing, nausea may be a symptom of depression and a cause for loss of appetite.

It's normal to lose a noticeable amount of weight after the stress of changing jobs, divorce, sacking or deprivation.
