live in Lahore but my uncle who lives in a village of Faisalabad invited me to spend some days with his family during the summer vacation. it was a great pleasure for me. In fact, I was very much eager to enjoy the pleasure of countryside.

I packed my bag and caught the train. It was a journey of four hours but the charming scenes in the way did not bore me even for a single moment. On both sides of the rail’, ay track, there were lush green fields spreading o the carpet. I got the basic idea of a village life during the journey.

At five pm, I reached the village railway station where my cousins were present to receive me.

The first thing noticeable was fresh air and clean water. The calm and peace was the hallmark of village life. I saw a different routine of life there. Most of the people were farmers by profession. They get up early in the morning to go to their fields. Cultivation was not much dependent on animals. Rather the use of machinery was now a common thing.

I saw there a quite simple life. There was no show off. Everyone was simple in outlook and behavior as well. In this simplicity, I found most of the people naive.

Greenery, crops, trees, plants, birds, flowers and serenity were the main features of rural life. It was a village yet there were some signs of modem development. The use of mobile phone was common. Cable TV channels were the main source of entertainment there. The use of motorbikes was also rampant. There was a market which catered the needs of all surrounding areas. There was a rural health center and a veterinary hospital. A lot of people who worked abroad had built modem houses. But still there were mud houses here and there with dung cakes sticking on their walls.

Women commonly assist their male members in the agricultural activities. Most of the children get education in government schools though the trend of private schools is in vogue. Some of the young lads had joined armed forces. The educated young girls were interested in the profession of teaching.

I was glad to see that the village life was also enjoying the fair share of basic amenities and was heading towards the modern facilities of this age.

I lived in the village Baharpur for a week hut its memories will haunt me forever in life.
